TOP 10 WEDDING VENUES IN SCOTLAND
I've been fortunate enough to photograph in some amazing venues. Here are some of my favourites!
January 10, 2013
Last week I blogged about my favourite ‘Couple Shots’ of 2012’s weddings – the best wedding photos of 2012 featuring just the bride & groom. This week I thought I’d open it up to everything else, from the bridal preparation shots through to the dancing. There’s even a few photos from Engagement Shoots in there too!
I shot Joe & Alex’s Engagement Shoot back in March 2012 – and immediately became excited about their wedding! They were such a quirky couple and had such a great laugh in front of the camera – one of those couples that makes my job very easy!
Their wedding certainly didn’t disappoint. We were blessed with great weather and I loved how Joe complimented his top hat & tails with a felt rose and plastic purple bow-tie! The photo of Alex looking at her ring (bottom right) was one of my favourites of the day. . .but the photo below almost beat it! A different kind of ‘Group Shot’!
The flower girl at Stephanie & Stuart’s wedding was a wee cutie and managed to get in quite a few of the photos! I love the shot of Stephanie’s mum (bottom right) taken during the ceremony – it totally captures how important that part of the day is. And Stephanie’s smile in the photo just above it captures the fun side!
I really like the first photo in this selection showing Gillian’s mum looking at her whilst she’s getting ready. The other photos show all the emotion of the ceremony. The photo at the top right was taken right after Andy had said the wrong name during the vows! Luckily Gillian saw the funny side! One of my favourite Ceremony Shots of this year was the one of Gillian walking down the aisle, her dad and husband to be watching her as she struggled not to cry – emotional stuff!
Some more ceremony shots here, but this time focusing on family members looking at the Bride & Groom. I love Rachel’s dad’s expression as he watches his girl get married, and her sister wiping away tears. One of my favourites from Rachel & Ali’s wedding was the shot of them in the wing mirror of the classic car they drove away in!
Hannah & Doug’s wedding at Stirling Castle was quite spectacular, and all of Doug’s military colleagues made it extra special! I love this shot of them exiting the chapel. I also loved the photo of Doug (top left) collecting his thoughts before the ceremony.
We got some of the best Couple Shots of the year at Carlyn & David’s wedding but I was also a fan of these Group Shots. The photo below shows some of the seriously impressive tattoos that were on display!
We had lots of fun photographing the wedding of our friends, Cat & Andy, and I loved these detail shots. It’s not often you get the weather to take shots like this outside in Glasgow!
There was several shots throughout the day that stood out for me at Esther & Alan’s wedding, but these ones here are all favourites – especially the photos of them laughing during the speeches!
Shaun & Jean’s wedding was one of my highlights of the year, and I had a lot of favourites to choose from. The top two shots here are great – Shaun looks so happy waiting for his bride to come down the aisle, and as she walks down with her dad Jean’s smile at Shaun is amazing!
We also got some great Dance shots at Shaun & Jean’s wedding – look at Jean’s dad going for it!
I loved this Bridal Preparation shot of Vicki. And below are just some of the amazing details that they used to decorate their venue, Kirknewton Stables.
Some of the best shots you can get at a wedding are during the speeches, and there were some wonderful reactions here.
Bec & I had great fun meeting Julie & Chris and photographing their Engagement Shoot, and here are some of the many highlights. Look out for a blog soon on their wedding!
Jennifer & Steven’s wedding was a very stylish affair and lots of fun to photograph. I love these photos of Jennifer getting ready – the busyness of all her bridesmaids around her helping her getting dressed but also that time of calm when she’s by herself, thinking about the ceremony to come. It’s great to capture these moments!
Bec & I aren’t the biggest fans of traditional group shots, and so we try and do them a little bit different. These two shots are a good example of that.
It’s been great fun looking back over last year’s weddings and picking my favourite photos. They’ve all brought back a lot of wonderful memories, just as a good photo should! I’m looking forward to a new season of weddings starting soon, but in the meantime let me know what your favourite shots are!
